Exploring the frontiers of neuroscience

Why Neuroscience?

The biological foundations of the brain, sensory systems, and higher-order cognitive functions such as memory, learning, emotion, and morality are unbelievably complex and remain an enigma to a large extent. Only by advancing our understanding of these topics will we be able to improve the lives of people by discovering cures for neurodegenerative diseases, enhancing our own cognitive functions and developing artificial systems with the precise ability to mimic it

The subject of neuroscience has also become more relevant lately as we try to better understand human intelligence in order to shape the future of artificial intelligence to be more intelligent and less artificial

Mission

Our mission is to inspire curiosity, excitement and appreciation for the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience.

We aspire to fuel a passion for scientific inquiry and enable the exploration of the wonders and mysteries of the human brain through student research presentations, guest speaker events, competitions, volunteer community events and more.

Our mission is to provide a platform for students to learn, participate, and grow as aspiring neuroscientists, paving the road for innovative applications in medicine, artificial intelligence and wellbeing. Students are empowered to improve lives of people through the discovery of novel treatments for brain disorders, exploration of emergent brain functions and development of artificial systems that emulate them.

About

Neuromatter is a youth neuroscience organization started in the spring of 2021 by a group of high school students in Northern California who are passionate about the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience.

Neuromatter AHS is incorporated as a branch of American High School’s Science Olympiad Club. Science Olympiad is one of the largest K-12 STEM organizations in the US, dedicated to driving interest and participation in various disciplines of STEM.
