Inspiring the exploration of brain, behavior and intelligence
Mind Over Matter
The human brain is a complex system and the basis of our biological functions, thoughts and actions. While we have come a long way in studying the brain, we are far from understanding the full workings of ourselves, and equally far from emulating it in artificial intelligence systems.
Neuroscience is the scientific study of the human brain and leverages multiple disciplines of neurobiology, psychology, artificial intelligence and engineering. With latest developments in this cutting-edge field, neuroscience is poised to enter a new era of revealing astounding insights and applications to improve lives of people.
“There is no scientific study more vital to man than the study of his own brain. Our entire view of the universe depends upon it.”
— Dr. Francis Crick, Nobel Prize winner
Mission
Our mission is to inspire curiosity, excitement and appreciation for the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience, paving the way for innovative applications in medicine, artificial intelligence and wellbeing.
By creating a platform for students to learn, participate, and grow in the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience, we aim to empower future innovators, scientists and technologists who can improve lives of people through the discovery of novel treatments for brain disorders, exploration of emergent brain functions or development of artificial intelligence systems that emulate them.

Team
We are a team of high school students at American High School who came together through our shared passion of neuroscience and its intersection with technology.
As we explored this fascinating field, we wanted to share our excitement and learnings with the community and founded the organization in Spring 2021.
Neuromatter AHS is incorporated as a branch of American High School’s Science Olympiad Club. Science Olympiad is one of the largest K-12 STEM organizations in the US, dedicated to driving interest and participation in various disciplines of STEM.
